About Schofields

Greg Schofield Schofields is a small legal practice based in North Devon, specialising exclusively in Civil Litigation. Established in May 2001, Solicitor Sole Principal, Greg Schofield offers a personal service to his clients having nearly 25 years relevant experience in this area of law.

Greg was born in West Yorkshire, but spent the first 15 years of his life in the North East of England, before moving to East Lancashire in 1980 where he initially attended Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Blackburn, before undertaking a Business Studies Diploma at Blackburn College.

In 1983, Greg commenced work with an eight Partner firm of Solicitors in Burnley, Lancashire where he received a general grounding in the law and established a specific interest in both Civil and Criminal Litigation. In October 1984, he moved to a 5 Partner Solicitors practice in the same town and within a few years, narrowed his area of work to solely that of Civil Litigation.

Having taken and passed the Institute of Legal Executives Part 1 Examinations, Greg attended The University of Central Lancashire and passed the four year Part Time law degree (LLB) course, before subsequently going on to take and pass a Post Gradate Diploma in Legal Studies. In 1996, he was one of the first people in the country to qualify as a Solicitor entirely by way of Part time study. Subsequently, Greg became a Member of the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel and a Member of The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).

In May 2001, having remained at the same Firm for over 16 years, (the last four and a half years as a Partner), Greg established Schofields Solicitors, with the intention of offering a modern and specialised Civil Litigation legal service, to clients both locally and nationally.

In August 2003, a lifestyle decision was made to relocate the Practice to North Devon, where Greg had family connections and had spent a number of family holidays. Since that time, and whilst continuing to provide a service for clients nationally, the Practice has sought to develop and increase the number of local clients, for whom a personal service is a priority.

Greg and Michelle Schofield have two children who attend local schools. Greg is an active member of Ilfracombe & District Round Table No 327 and has recently been responsible for organising their two major events – Rescue Day and Southwest Birdman. Michelle is a Scout Leader.

Greg’s interests include playing and listening to live music, watching football (one of the few Blackburn Rovers supporters in the South West), walking, swimming, and most racquet sports.
